Govt chalks out programmes to observe Bangabandhu’s martyrdom anniversary

In the light of the Cabinet Division's national programmes, the government has chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the 48th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Mourning Day at national level on August 15, reports BSS.

As part of the programmes, the national flag will be hoisted half-mast in all government, semi-government, autonomous institutions, educational institutions and private buildings, said an official release on Tuesday.

All employees of the ministries/departments/agencies will wear black badges to observe the National Mourning Day with due dignity from the first day of August.

Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar will massively promote the information on the issues regarding hoisting the national flag at half-mast and the proper use of the national flag.

Glowing tributes will be paid to the architect of the independence by placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at 6:30 am in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi Road No 32 in the capital.

A guard of honour will be presented by the armed forces and prayers will be offered there.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will place wreaths and shower flower petals in the Banani Graveyard around 7:30 am on the graves of the family members of the Father of the Nation and other martyrs who were brutally killed on the brutal night on August 15, 1975.
