Govt decides to change names of 13 universities linked to Sheikh family

The interim government has decided to change the names of 13 universities named after members of the Sheikh family, including Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Sheikh Hasina.

The decision was made during a meeting of the Advisory Council today (Thursday).

An official notification regarding the matter will be issued shortly.

Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, Adviser to the Ministries of Local Government, Rural Development & Cooperatives, and Youth & Sports, confirmed the government's decision to change the names of the universities in a Facebook post.
