The government has constituted a six-member task-force to probe allegations of irregularities and corruption across various initiatives in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector, and prepare a detailed Whitepaper based on the findings.

Development economist Professor Dr Niaz Asadullah will lead both the task force and the committee responsible for drafting the Whitepaper.

Other members are Professor Muhammad Mustafa Hussain, Barrister Afzal Jami Syed Ali, technology specialists Mahmud Salam Maruf and Asif Shahriar Sushmit, and journalist Md Shariat Ullah. Sushmit will also act as the chief coordinator of the task force.

A circular issued by the ICT Division on Thursday confirmed the final composition of the committee, following its initial approval through a government gazette published on April 17.

Formed with inputs from sectoral experts, the task force is mandated to examine all agreements, Development Project Proposals (DPPs), audit reports, and previous investigation findings associated with the ICT sector under the former administration.

The committee has been tasked with submitting both a concise summary and a comprehensive report by June 21. Members will receive sitting allowances or honorariums in line with existing government regulations, while the ICT Division will ensure all necessary logistical and administrative support.
