Govt forms committee to examine demands of BSc, diploma engineers

The government has formed an eight-member high-powered committee to examine the demands of both BSc degree and diploma holders in the engineering sector.

The Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification in this regard on Wednesday, saying that the committee has been tasked with reviewing the demands and submitting a report with recommendations within one month.

Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Adviser to the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, and Ministry of Railways, has been appointed the committee chairman.

Its seven other members are: Adilur Rahman Khan, Adviser to the Ministry of Industries, and Ministry of Housing and Public Works; Prof Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar, Adviser to the Ministry of Education; Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and the Ministry of Water Resources; Engineer Mohammad Rezaul Islam, President, Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh; Engineer Md. Kabir Hossain, President, Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh; Prof Dr. Engineer Tanvir Manzur, Chairman, Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education, Bangladesh; and Kazi Muhammad Mozammel Haque, Additional Secretary, the Ministry of Public Administration (member secretary of the committee).

The committee may also co-opt additional members, if needed.
