Govt provides financial assistance to amputee transport worker

Khalid Hasan Hridoy, a transport worker of Gopalganj who lost a hand in a road mishap recently, received Tk 50,000 as medical aid from Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation trust.

Secretary of Labour and Employment Ministry Afroza Khan paid a visit to Hridoy on Monday at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and handed over the money to Hridoy's father.

During the visit, she also enquired about Hridoy's wellbeing and assured him of further assistance from the ministry if needed.

Hridoy's hand was severed in a road accident in Tungipara of Gopalganj on April 18 and he is now undergoing treatment at the DMCH.

If a labourer dies or becomes crippled permanently in accident in workplace, he/she will get maximum Tk 200,000 from the trust. He/she will get maximum Tk 100,000 if gets crippled partly and gets medical assistance if gets injured in accident, reports BSS.
