Govt ready round the clock to face any natural calamity: State minister

State Minister for the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Enamur Rahman on Sunday expressed that the government remains prepared round the clock to face any natural disasters.

He came up with the remarks while taking to journalists after inaugurating an international seminar titled "Prevention of Casualties of Paralysed People" at Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) in Savar.

"All necessary preparations have been completed to hold a peaceful and hassle-free Biswa Ijtema. We are ready to face any situation," he said.

Biswa Ijtema, one of the largest congregations of the Muslims, will be held for four days in a single phase from February 15 on the bank of the Turag River in Tongi, reports UNB.

Taking about the upcoming upazila elections, the State Minister said "In fact, if they (BNP) do not take part in the upcoming elections, the party's existence might come into threat."

Over 100 nurses from nearly one hundred government hospitals participated in the seminar.

The seminar was also attended by several high officials of the CRP, including its coordinator Valerie Ann Taylor and executive director Md Shafiqul Islam.
