A 23-year-old groom died on his way back home with bride after their wedding in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat in the small hours of Monday.
The deceased was identified as Jahidul Islam, son of Mahubar Rahman from Wabda Bazar in Kakina Union, reports UNB.
Locals said that while returning home with his bride after the wedding ceremony, Jahidul Islam fell sick after crossing Tushbhandar Bazar.
He later died on the way to Rangpur Medical College for treatment.
Md. Shahabuddin, a member of Kakina Union (Ward No. 5), said that village police were sent to the scene after learning of the incident.
Selim Malik, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kaliganj Police Station, said that police were sent to the spot upon hearing about the newlywed's death.
