Inqilab Mancha announced that it would launch a movement to overthrow the government, if justice is not ensured for the murder of Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi within the next 30 working days.
Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of Inqilab Mancha, made the announcement from a sit-in programme at Shahbag in the capital on Friday.
Following Jum'ah prayers, leaders and activists of the platform brought out a protest march from the Dhaka University Central Mosque, demanding justice for Hadi's murder. The procession passed through the university's Central Library and Raju Sculpture before ending at Shahbag.
After Jaber's speech, Inqilab Mancha activists continued their sit-in at Shahbag, resulting in the closure of one side of the Shahbag intersection for traffic.
Inqilab Mancha has been observing continuous programmes at Shahbag since December 26, demanding justice for the killing of Hadi. As part of these activities, the platform announced an online campaign titled 'Saluting Our Cultural Hero' on December 29. Following that programme, its activists once again took position at Shahbag on Friday. They were seen chanting slogans, reiterating their demand for justice.
Abdullah Al Jaber said, "The government has asked for time until January 7, while we have given 30 working days. Of that period, 22 days are still left. If the government fails to complete the judicial process of Hadi murder within the next 30 working days, we will launch a movement to overthrow the government."
He further demanded that by January 7, not only the individuals who directly carried out the Hadi murder but also all those, who were involved behind the scenes, must be identified, and a charge-sheet must be submitted against everyone responsible.
Jaber also said they would approach all political parties, seeking justice for Hadi's killing. "We will go to all those who stand with the ountry. We will approach all Bangladesh-oriented cultural organisations and seek their cooperation. If they cooperate, Alhamdulillah; if they do not, we will remain on the streets. We will not go to those who serve Indian interests."
"Osman Hadi began a movement to protect Bangladesh's independence and establish justice. Many believed that if Hadi were not killed immediately, they would not be able to come to power in the future, bodies could no longer be dumped at the border, and servitude to Delhi would not continue. All these factors are interconnected, and so Hadi was murdered," he added.
