The Ministry of Religious Affairs on Sunday projected that the Hajj packages will become more expensive in the coming years.
Describing this year's package as the reduced one, the ministry requested pilgrims to register for Hajj this year as soon as possible, said a notification of the ministry.
“Problem has emerged in finding hotels due to the recent global situation and the demolition of various hotels near the Haram Sharif in Saudi Arabia. Hotels are being rented with higher cost for this reason,” reads a notification of the ministry.
Due to various reasons, this year's Hajj package can be considered as a reduced package and in that regard, it can be said that the price of Hajj package will increase further in the coming years. The hotels demolished would need two or three more years to be renovated, it added.
In the circular, the ministry requested Hajj pilgrims to register for Hajj this time.
The government has extended the registration period for Hajj this year by seven times. Still the quota is not being met.
According to the Hajj agreement with Saudi Arabia, 127,198 people from Bangladesh will be able to perform Hajj this time. Out of this, 15 thousand people under government management and remaining 112,198 people under private management will have the opportunity to perform Hajj.
As of Sunday, a total of 118,317 pilgrims have been registered. Among them, 9,937 were under government arrangement while the rest under private arrangement, according to the information of the Hajj portal.
The government has recently reduced the cost of Hajj packages by Tk11,725. Pilgrims have to pay Tk 6,71,290 each under the arrangement of government while Tk 6,60,893 each under private arrangement.
