A student shot in the New Market area of Chattogram during the Anti-discrimination Movement in 2024 has filed attempt-to-murder charges against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 181 others.
The victim named AKM Nurullah filed the case in the court of Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Bakar Siddique on Monday, almost a year after the incident.
He is a student of the International Islamic University Chittagong and a resident of Sitakunda Upazila.
Plaintiff’s lawyer Tasnim Akhter Nishat told bdnews24.com that Nurullah filed the case after being shot in the New Market area on Aug 4, 2024.
“The court has ordered the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to submit a report after receiving the complaint and investigating it,” she said.
Former ministers Obaidul Quader, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed, Hasan Mahmud, Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, former chief justice ABM Khairul Haque, former chief election commissioners KM Nurul Huda and Kazi Habibul Awal are among those accused in the case.
The case alleges that on Aug 4, 2024, Nurullah participated in a protest in the New Market area, where students were attacked.
He was shot in both legs and other parts of his body by Awami League, Chhatra League, and Jubo League activists on the accused’s orders.
Nurullah was initially treated at a private hospital, where 12 bullets and three rubber bullets were removed from his body.
