HC rules over result of recruiting govt primary teachers

The High Court on Tuesday issued a rule upon the respondents to explain in four weeks as to why the final result of the assistant teacher recruitment process of the government primary schools published on December 24, 2019, should not be declared illegal.

The High Court bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order after hearing a writ petition filed by some applicants.

The court also wanted to know in the rule as to why the respondents should not be directed to publish a fresh result as per Section 7 of the rules of the primary teacher recruitment policy-2013 after cancelling the published result.

Primary secretary, director general of directorate of primary education and other respondents have to comply with the rule within four weeks.

Advocate Md Kamal Hossain appeared in the court on behalf of the writ petition while deputy attorney general Amit Talukder stood for the state.

After the court order, Mr Kamal said, “60 per cent of the vacant posts will be filled up by the female candidates, 20 per cent by the dependent candidates and the rest of the posts by the male candidates as per Section 7 of the rules of the primary teacher recruitment policy-2013. But the authorities didn’t follow the rules during publishing the latest result on December 24, 2019.”

 “In this circumstance, 16 candidates filed the writ petition with the High Court. After hearing, the court issued a rule,” added the lawyer.

A total of 18,147 candidates have been qualified in the written tests for the post of assistant teachers at government primary schools. The results of the written examination were published on December 24, 2019, said a press release of Primary Education Department.

Now the authorities are processing to appoint the qualified candidates, sources said.
