Health Minister Samanta Lal Sen has called on deputy commissioners to provide all-out support during the ongoing drives against illegal clinics and diagnostic centres across the country.
He made this appeal during a discussion related to the health ministry at the Osmani Auditorium in the capital on Sunday, the first day of the deputy commissioners' conference, local media reported.
Earlier in the morning, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the conference at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
After the discussion, Sen told reporters that he sought deputy commissioners' full support since the ministry lacks judicial authority, whereas they can exercise it through mobile courts.
As a result, he said, he requested that they ensure that drives are conducted smoothly and any related obstacles reported to the ministry.
Sen added that the deputy commissioners raised concerns about manpower shortages, shortage of beds and non-proportional allocations in many areas.
In response, the health minister said, he assured them of trying to resolve them.
