Heat wave may persist for two to three more days: Met official

The ongoing heat wave, which has been sweeping over four divisions and four regions across the country since Saturday, may persist for two to three days, according to a meteorologist at Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

However, light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind is likely to occur at a few places over Mymensingh, Sylhet, Rajshahi & Dhaka divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur & Chattogram, divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country. Weather may remain mainly dry elsewhere over the country, said Abdul Mannan.

Talking to The Financial Express, he said the mild heat wave is now sweeping over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna & Barishal divisions and the regions of Rangamati, Chandpur, M.court & Sayedpur and it may continue in the next few days.

The heat wave also may spread day by day in different parts of the country except the northeastern part, he warned.

According to him, the rainfall may witness a declining trend in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the BMD in a forecast said day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

In its 72-hour outlook, it said the temperature may rise.

The sun set at 6:35pm on Sunday and will rise at 5: 15am on Monday in Dhaka, according to the forecast.
