High commission in Brunei to support jobless people from BD

Bangladesh high commission in Brunei will provide foods and financial supports to jobless Bangladeshis staying there to help them to overcome present crises, caused by COVID-19 pandemic.

So far, they have identified some 820 workers who are in vulnerable condition due to lack of necessary foods and other essentials, high commission sources said.

When contacted, Bangladesh High Commissioner air vice-marshal (retd) Mahmud Hussain told the FE that they have received a fund of Tk 2.5 million from Wage Earners’ Welfare Board (WEWB) for distributing among the workers.

 A fund is being collected by Bangladeshi business community in Brunei that will be spent for purchasing food and other essential goods for them.

At least seven Bangladeshis have been infected with COVID-19 in Brunei while 135 cases have been confirmed there. Of the total cases, one non-Bangladeshi had died by the killer virus, so far.
