The High Court has annulled the recruitment process of 6,531 candidates for the post of assistant teacher in government primary schools in Dhaka and Chattogram divisions. The court also cancelled the government's decision regarding the issuance of appointment letters.

A High Court bench comprising Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Sikder Mahmudur Razi delivered the verdict on Thursday (February 6) after the final hearing on the related rule.

Earlier, on November 19, following a preliminary hearing on a writ petition, the HC issued a rule and an order, suspending the recruitment results, the issuance of appointment letters, and other related decisions for six months.

In response, the Directorate of Primary Education filed a leave to appeal seeking a stay on the High Court's order. The matter was brought before the Appellate Division for a hearing today (Thursday).

Barrister Kamruzzaman Bhuiyan stated that the Appellate Division has disposed of the leave to appeal filed by the Directorate of Primary Education. Following the hearing, the court decided to maintain the High Court’s order, effectively keeping the recruitment process on hold for the time being. This means that no recruitment activities can be conducted during this period.

The recruitment process began with a circular issued on June 14, 2023. Subsequently, a total of 6,531 candidates were selected, and the final results of the recruitment exam were published on October 31, 2023.
