Home minister sees no lapse in Zafar Iqbal's security

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan has said there was no lapse in the security measures when Dr Zafar Iqbal came under a knife attack.

The minister made the remarks on Sunday, a day after Zafar Iqbal came under a knife attack at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) in Sylhet.

"Police have already arrested an attacker," he said while speaking at a function in Rajabazar area in Dhaka.

The minister said that law enforcers are investigating the incident.

"The motive of the attack will be known soon," he said.

Professor Zafar Iqbal, head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) of SUST, came under a knife attack on the campus of the university.

According to BSS, the eminent writer was initially treated at the MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital in Sylhet.

Later, he was flown to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka last night.
