Manzur Elahi’s body arrives in Dhaka
The renowned entrepreneur will be laid to rest at Banani Graveyard Thursday

The body of eminent entrpreneur Syed Manzur Elahi, who died at a Singapore Hospital on Wednesday morning, arrived in Dhaka.
The Singapore Airlines flight carrying the body landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 10:30 pm, according to family sources.
Earlier, family members of the deceased informed the media that two namaz-e-janaza for Syed Manjur Elahi would be held tomorrow (Thursday) – the first one on the premises of East West University at 10:am and the last one at Gulshan Azad Mosque after Zuhr prayers.
They said he would be laid to rest at Banani graveyard next to the grave of his wife Niloufer Manzur.
Syed Manzur Elahi, Chairman of Apex Group, died at the age of 83 while receiving treatment at a hospital in Singapore. He had been suffering from various age-related illnesses for some time.
Manzur Elahi was serving as the Managing Director of International Publications Limited, the owning company of The Financial Express, and was also the publisher of the newspaper.
He had also served as the founding chairman of Mutual Trust Bank, Pioneer Insurance Company and Grey Advertising Bangladesh.
Besides being an eminent industrialist, he was appointed twice as an adviser to the Caretaker Government of Bangladesh, in 1996 and 2001, for his leadership qualities.
He won various awards for his contributions to trade and industry, including the “Business Executive of the Year 2000” by the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), Bangladesh, and “Business Person of the Year 2002” award, sponsored by the Daily Star and DHL Worldwide Express.
