The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) decided to resume Covid-19 testing at hospitals due to a recent rise in Covid cases across the country.

Professor Halimur Rashid, Line Director of the Communicable Disease Control (CDC) branch of the DGHS, confirmed the information on Wednesday, according to local media reports.

Professor Rashid said that the tests will begin at medical colleges and district hospitals initially, where RT-PCR labs are available.

Earlier on Thursday, one person died of Covid-19 in the country.

Although the situation is not yet alarming, the infection rate is increasing.

In response, public health experts are calling for the expansion of testing facilities and a resumption of vaccination efforts to curb the possible spread of the virus.
