HSC student heading home for parents’ blessings dies in road crash

A student who was set to take his HSC exams on Sunday died in a road accident while heading home to seek blessings from his parents on Friday.
Karimul Islam, 18, was an HSC examinee of Jamalpur Government Asheq Mahmud College. He was from Guthail in Jamalpur’s Islampur upazila and the son of businessman Samiul Haq.
The accident occurred when the autorickshaw he was travelling in collided head-on with a truck at the Mirza Azam roundabout in Jamalpur’s Islampur upazila.
Locals rushed him to Jamalpur Sheikh Hasina Medical College Hospital, where he was declared dead.
Police and students said that Karimul was scheduled to take his HSC exams on Sunday. He had been staying in a mess in Jamalpur’s Pashchim Nayaparha to study.
“Karimul was a brilliant student,” said Principal Professor Md Harun-or-Rashid. “He was going home to seek his parents’ blessings before the exams. Tragically, he met with an accident on the way. I learned about it this morning and rushed to see him.”
