Humayun elected president, Akik general secretary in BADC Agriculturalists’ Association poll

In the biannual election of the Central Executive Committee of the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) Agriculturalists’ Association, Md. Humayun Kabir has been elected president, and Dr Md Akikul Islam Akik has been elected general secretary.
A total of 60 candidates from two panels contested for 30 posts. The Humayun–Atikul panel won 21 out of the 30 positions, including president and general secretary.
According to a press release issued on Sunday, voting took place simultaneously at five centers, including the BADC Central Seed Testing Laboratory auditorium in Gabtoli.
Two panels contested the polls-- the BNP-backed Humayun–Akik panel and the Jamaat-e-Islami-backed Mahmudul Alam–Shafiqul panel.
Out of 300 voters, all exercised their right to vote between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Other elected members include joint secretaries Mir Enamul Haque (Munna) and Md. Faruk Hossain, and organising secretary K M Abul Kalam (Azad).
