An improvised explosive device (IED) has been detonated in front of Raju Memorial Sculpture of Dhaka University on Tuesday, following a similar incident at the campus that had occurred more than a week ago.

Stating that the authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the culprits, Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed confirmed the recent incident which occurred at 10:30 PM.

As an immediate response, Bangladesh Ganatantrik Chhatra Sangsad (BGCS) held a procession to condemn the incident.

Leaders and activists of BGCS began their procession from TSC at 11:30 PM and concluded it in front of the proctor's office, where they held a press conference.

Abu Baker Mazumder, central president of BGCS, alleged that those who aim to delay DUCSU election under the pretext of security concerns are behind the incident.

"The university administration has already consulted with all student organisations, and everyone has expressed a positive stance on holding the election," he said.

"We have repelled Chhatra League before, and we have the strength to resist any new fascist force," Baker warned.

Zahid Ahsan, member secretary of BGCS, said. "Explosions continue to occur on campus, yet the administration has failed to take any effective measures," he added.
