The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has issued a fervent appeal to refrain from attacking police personnel and police facilities. In a video message released on Tuesday from the police headquarters' media and public relations department, the IGP expressed his concern over the recent incidents of violence against law enforcement.
In his message, the IGP specifically requested political leaders and student activists involved in the anti-discrimination movement to refrain from inciting or participating in such attacks. He emphasised the importance of maintaining peace and order and highlighted the role of the police in safeguarding the lives and property of citizens.
"The patriotic armed forces are working tirelessly to ensure the security of police stations and personnel," said the IGP.
He also assured that maximum efforts are being made to address the various issues and demands raised by police personnel.
Mamun condoled the loss of lives of police officers in the line of duty and extended his condolences to their bereaved families. He also assured that all injured officers would receive necessary medical care.
The IGP expressed hope that the situation will normalise swiftly with everyone's cooperation.
