Nobel laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus expressed deep disappointment over the legal cases he has been battling.

“I’m pushed into trouble and being restricted from executing the plans I had for the last stage of my life,” he said.

Dr Yunus voiced his frustration while speaking to journalists after appearing before the Labour Appellate Tribunal today (Thursday).

Earlier in the day, the court extended the period of bail granted to the Grameen Telecom chairman and three others until July 4, in a labour law violation case.

Judge MA Awal of the Labour Appellate Tribunal passed the order after Dr Yunus and three other accused appeared before the court.

On Jan 1, Yunus and Grameen Telecom's Managing Director Ashraful Hasan and directors Nurjahan Begum and Md Shahjahan were each sentenced to six-month imprisonment and fined Tk 30,000 for violating labour law.
