Independent Student Alliance announced a partial panel on Thursday for the upcoming Rajshahi University Central Students' Union (RUCSU) election, along with a 13-point manifesto focusing on academic reforms and student welfare.
The panel nominated Tawhidul Islam for vice-president (VP), Nusrat Jahan Nupur for general secretary (GS), and Jannatul Ara Naushin for assistant general secretary (AGS). Besides, Moniruzzaman will contest for information and research secretary, and Shahin Alam for assistant environment and welfare secretary.
The alliance pledged timely publication of results, housing stipends, subsidised meals, extended library hours, improved medical services, modern transport, and a "zero tolerance" stance on sexual harassment and cyber-bullying.
"This election is not about titles, but about responsibility," VP candidate Tawhidul said, calling for a strong, politically neutral RUCSU. AGS candidate Naushin said she would prioritise tackling cyber-bullying, a barrier for many female students in achieving leadership.
The panel also vowed to revive the senate as well as to unite cultural and rights-based student bodies.
