The High Commission of India in Dhaka has shut down all visa application centres in Bangladesh amid the ongoing unrest following the fall of the Awami League government in a popular uprising.
A message on the Indian Visa Application Centre’s website on Wednesday announced that all centres would remain closed indefinitely due to the volatile situation.
The dates for the next visa application will be notified in text messages, and passports can be collected on the next working day, reads the message, as per bdnews24.com reports.
The Awami League government, led by Hasina, was toppled on Monday amid intense public protests.
Following the government's fall, incidents of attacks, vandalism, and arson erupted in various parts of the country, including Dhaka.
Police stations, homes of former ministers, and MPs were not spared.
By Tuesday, the capital was completely without police presence, leading to widespread panic.
