Daughter of slain Jhenaidah-4 MP Anwarul Azim alias Anar, who was brutally murdered in Kolkata, on Saturday said that her father was murdered for political reasons, hinting at internal party conflicts.
Anar's daughter Muntarin Ferdous Dorin came up with the remark while replying to reporters' questions in front of the National Press Club in the city on Saturday regarding her father's killing in Kolkata, reports UNB.
"Of course there must be internal political party conflict behind my father's killing. Otherwise, why would they (arrested suspects belonging to her father's party i.e. Awami League) be involved in the brutal murder! They knew everything. They even came to comfort me!"
She questioned why they didn't tell her.
Dorin further said, "Then I told the journalist brothers that my father is missing, please search for him. I have gone to DB chief, DB police to seek help. Then why they (suspects) did not tell me or why they did not seek help from police?"
She also said that the information has been concealed, which is a crime.
Regarding the arrest of two local leaders of Jhenaidah Awami League, she said the two local Awami League leaders were arrested based on enough information. Even the prime suspected killer Shimul Bhuiyan has given statement in the court under section 164 about Gas Babu. Gas Babu also gave a statement under Section 164 and disclosed the name of Saidul Karim Minto uncle. Of course they were arrested because they were related. I believe this and the investigation that is going on, they will be brought to book subject to this investigation, she added.
On May 12, MP Anar went to India from Kaliganj in Jhenaidah for treatment. He went to the house of a friend named Gopal Biswas on Mandalpara Lane of Barahnagar police station in West Bengal. The next day, he left the house to visit the doctor. Since then, Anwarul Azim disappeared mysteriously.
Five days after leaving the house, on May 18, his friend Gopal Biswas filed a GD regarding Anwarul Azim's disappearance at Baranagar police station. On May 22, news was suddenly spread that Anwarul Azim was murdered in a flat of a residential building called Sanjiva Gardens in the New Town area of Kolkata. Traces of blood were found inside the flat. But the body was not found.
