The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) has issued a red notice against former inspector general of police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed, according to officials at the Police Headquarters.
Although the notice has not yet appeared on Interpol’s official website, Enamul Haque Sagar, spokesperson for the Police Headquarters, explained that many red notices are kept confidential and are accessible only to law-enforcing agencies.
The notice will appear on Interpol’s website once certain formalities are completed, he added.
The red notice was issued on Apr 10, marking the first time such a notice has been issued against a former chief of police in Bangladesh, according to a bdnews24.com report.
