A court in Dhaka on Sunday placed Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President and former information minister Hasanul Haque Inu on a four-day remand in a case filed over the killing of Ideal College student Khalid Hasan Saifullah during the recent anti-discrimination student movement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehera Mahbub passed the order as police produced him before the court and pleaded for a seven-day remand for proper investigation.

On September 3, Inu was remanded for five days in the truck driver Md Sujon murder case.

Inu was detained from his residence at Uttara on August 26. The next day, he was produced before the court and remanded for seven days in the businessman Abdul Wadud murder case.

Saifullah was killed on July 18 at Lalbagh while protesting under the banner of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

Kamrul Hasan, father of the deceased, filed the case with Lalbagh Police Station on August 19 against 52 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
