Ishraque’s supporters to reopen Nagar Bhaban Monday; officials’ rooms to remain locked
Supporters of BNP leader Ishraque Hossain have announced that they will reopen Nagar Bhaban, the administrative headquarters of the Dhaka City South Corporation (DSCC), on Monday.
However, they said that the rooms of the administrator and engineers will remain locked.
They made the announcement on Sunday after ending their protest at the Nagar Bhaban, which had been locked for around 39 days.
The protesters, under the banner of ‘Dhakabashi’ (Residents of Dhaka), also declared that no bills prior to August 5, 2024, will be allowed to be cleared.
They further stated that associates of the fascist regime would not be allowed to enter the Nagar Bhaban or its regional offices. Any attempts to make fresh appointments will also be resisted, they warned.
Moshiur Rahman, a former secretary and coordinator of the movement, said Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, the adviser, must be removed for violating the court order and the constitution by not administering the oath to Ishraque Hossain.
“We call upon the protesting citizens of Dhaka to resist all conspiracies by the local government adviser and urge for necessary measures to ensure uninterrupted delivery of essential civic services”, he said.
