Islamic song performed at Puja Mandap: Case filed against Puja Committee leader, six singers

A case has been filed against a Puja Committee leader and six singers in connection with the rendering of an Islamic song at the JM Sen Hall Puja Mandap in Chattogram.
Sukanta Mahajan, Treasurer of the Chattogram Metropolitan Puja Celebration Council, filed the case with Kotwali Police Station.
The accused are Sajol Dutta, Joint General Secretary of the council's Chattogram branch, and Chattogram Cultural Academy members Shahidul Karim, Md Nurul Islam, Abdullah Iqbal, Roni, Golam Mostafa, and Md Mamun.
Of them, Shahidul Karim and Nurul Islam were detained on Thursday night. They have been shown arrested in the case filed for hurting religious sentiments and creating disorder through their performance.
Kotwali Police Officer-in-Charge Muhammad Fazlul Kader Chowdhury confirmed the filing of the case, stating, "The accusations involve offending religious sentiments and attempting to create a chaotic environment."
Earlier on Thursday evening, controversy emerged on Thursday evening following the performance of an Islamic song at the JM Sen Hall Puja Mandap.
A video of the performance later circulated on the social media, triggering widespread debate among social media users.
Chattogram Cultural Academy was reportedly invited by Sajol Dutta, Joint Secretary of the Chattogram Metropolitan Puja Celebration Council, for perfoming at the Puja Mandap.
However, as the Academy singers preformed an Islamic song at the event, it triggered mixed reactions among the followers of the Sanatana religion.
