The Jamaat-e-Islami has removed a Facebook post acknowledging the BNP’s absolute majority in the election just minutes after publishing it.
Jamaat made the post to its official Facebook page at 6:24pm on Saturday.
Within just a few minutes, it was shared more than a hundred times, drawing as many comments.
It, however, was taken down approximately six to seven minutes later.
“The BNP-led alliance has secured a majority of seats. We acknowledge this result and respect the constitutional process. However, the national election outcome also reflects a deeper and more complex reality,” Jamaat chief Shafiqur Rahman wrote in the post.
