A man was killed in a clash between two groups of villagers over a trifling matter at Bashantapur in Shailakupa upazila of Jhenaidah on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Ratan Mandal, 25, son of Rahen Mandal of the village, reports UNB.
Kazi Ayubur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Shailakupa Police Station, said the branch of a tree collapsed on the house of Rahier Mandal as a nor'wester lashed in the district on Tuesday night.
On Wednesday morning, an altercation was ensued between Rahier Mandal and Sekandar Mandal, the owner of the tree, over removing the branch around 6:00 am.
At one stage, supporters of Sekendar and his nephew Ratan swooped on each other, leaving Ratan injured.
Later, he died on way to the upazila health complex, said the OC.
