Jhenaidah Journalists Forum, Dhaka elects new leadership

Jhenaidah Journalists Forum (JJF), Dhaka has elected its new leadership for a two-year term from August 1, 2025, to July 31, 2027.

The election was held on Friday at the JJF’s annual general meeting in the Maulana Akram Khan Auditorium of the National Press Club, according to a press release.

Mehadi Hassan Palash, assistant editor at the Daily Inqilab, has been elected president, while Shahnaz Begum Poly, senior sub-editor at Desh Rupantor, was elected general secretary.

Other office bearers elected on voice vote include Md Kobir Hossain of Kalbela as vice-president, Md Ziaur Rahman of The Financial Express as joint secretary, Shahnewaz Khan Sumon of Kalbela as organisational secretary, Md Masum Billah of Desh Rupantor as treasurer, Md Rubel Parvez of Ekhon TV as office secretary, Farhana Taher Tithi of Khoborer Kagoj as women affairs secretary, and Zahid Hossain Biplob of Bangladesh Monitor as executive member. The full committee will be finalised at the forum’s first executive meeting.

Senior journalists Munshi Abdul Mannan, Khairul Alam Bakul and Shahanuare Shaid Shahin served as election commissioners.

Outgoing president Quazi Abdul Hannan resigned at the start of the meeting, after which Senior Vice-President Ashraful Islam chaired the session.

Founded in 2014, the forum was established to promote professional cooperation among journalists and contribute to the development of the Jhenaidah district.
