Joyeeta entrepreneurs demand withdrawal of eviction orders

The Joyeeta Central Women Entrepreneurs Forum has demanded the withdrawal of eviction orders issued by the Joyeeta Foundation, a government entity under the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.

The Forum, operating under Joyeeta, has been conducting business at the city's Rapa Plaza in Dhanmondi since 2011.

However, the Foundation has now ordered them to vacate the premises by March.

The floors at Rapa Plaza were originally arranged by the Joyeeta Foundation to support women entrepreneurs.

According to the Forum, 94 organisations are involved in business at the location, showcasing a variety of products.

A press release issued by the Forum said: "We must be given the opportunity to continue our business at Rapa Plaza until 2025."

Both the Joyeeta Foundation and the 94 women-led organisations are dedicated to empowering women in the country.

In protest, the Forum's leaders have formed a human chain and organised a press conference, demanding the reversal of the eviction order and their relocation to the newly-built Joyeeta Tower in Dhanmondi, established by the Joyeeta Foundation.
