Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said on Sunday his office will look into the allegation of harassing businessmen by taxmen once he get a written submission on it.
“When we are informed about the allegation we will definitely take care of it,” the minister said replying to a query.
Mr Kamal was briefing newsmen after a virtual meeting of the cabinet committee on government purchase.
President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Md Jashim Uddin on Saturday at a meeting in the capital alleged that businesses across the country face harassment at the hands of VAT and tax officials and he sought the government’s intervention to stop it.
Replying to another query, Mr Kamal said he thinks the latest bout of the pandemic may not have any significant impact on the country’s economy as feared.
