The death toll from a fire at a gas lighter factory in Keraniganj has risen to six after another body was recovered from the debris.
Fire Service and Civil Defence spokesperson Talha Bin Zasim said the latest body was found around 12:15 am on Sunday at the burnt factory in the Kadamtali area, reports bdnews24.com.
Earlier in the day, five bodies were recovered from the site following the blaze that broke out around 1:15 pm.
The fire was brought under control by 2:30 pm with the efforts of seven firefighting units.
Rescue operations continued even after the fire was fully extinguished around 4:45 pm, leading to the discovery of the sixth body late at night.
Officials said the bodies were severely burnt, making it difficult to immediately determine the victims’ identities or gender.
