BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s health remains unchanged, according to doctors.
Her daughter-in-law Zubaida Rahman again visited her at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka on Friday night after meeting her mother.
BNP Media Cell member Atikur Rahman Rumon said, “[She] visited her mother in Dhanmondi and stayed there for some time. She returned to [Khaleda’s] side at 8:30pm.”
Zubaida, wife of Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, landed at 10.45am on Friday aboard a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from London.
She had set off on Thursday evening to accompany Khaleda to London for treatment.
Khaleda’s planned transfer to London on Friday morning by a special air ambulance provided by the emir of Qatar has been delayed due to a technical glitch with the aircraft.
The Qatari government has now arranged an air ambulance from Germany.
Once it arrives, and if the former prime minister’s condition remains stable, she will be moved to London following the medical board’s advice, BNP leaders said.
A senior BNP leader told bdnews24.com that the medical board cleared Khaleda for overseas travel on Thursday, but her condition worsened overnight, delaying the trip.
Zubaida, a doctor, went straight to Evercare Hospital after landing, where Khaleda has been admitted since Nov 23.
Under tight security, Zubaida visited her in the critical care unit, consulting with the medical board on her condition.
Doctors said the board held two meetings, at noon and in the evening, reviewing the latest reports.
They noted that her condition had not shifted from its earlier state.
Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, Khaleda’s personal physician, said: “The board has ordered some tests. They are being carried out. There is nothing more to add.”
Several doctors described her condition as “critical”, with round-the-clock monitoring in place, but declined to elaborate without the board’s approval.
