A man has been killed in an attack by protesters demanding the release of former ISKCON Bangladesh leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari at the Chattogram court premises.
The deceased, identified as Saiful Islam Alif, an advocate was allegedly stabbed during the protests on Tuesday.
He was rushed to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) where the duty doctor declared him dead.
Additional Public Prosecutor of the Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Court Muhammad Enamul confirmed the matter to the media.
Earlier in the day, thousands of people from the Hindu community gathered around the prison van carrying Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, a spokesperson for the Bangladesh Sanatan Jagaran Mancha, to stage protests after a court issued an order to send him to jail.
He was arrested from the Dhaka airport area on Monday evening.
