The vacant rooms in the Nagar Bhaban, the headquarters of Dhaka South City Corporation, will be used to conduct the official activities of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development (LGRD), and Cooperatives from tomorrow (Sunday).

LGRD adviser Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan disclosed the information on Saturday at a meeting with senior officials of the ministry at his residence on Hare Road, Dhaka.

The adviser stated that official activities will not be halted for even a single day.

He emphasized that no conspiracy aimed at disrupting the ministry’s ongoing people-friendly development initiatives or concealing corruption from the previous fascist regime will be allowed to succeed.

Adviser Asif directed all officials to work with renewed determination to make the ministry’s operations more dynamic than ever.

The massive fire that broke out late Wednesday night at the Secretariat severely damaged offices, documents, computers, and furniture of five ministries. Among the affected were two divisions of the Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives Ministry.

Critical documents were reduced to ashes, computers and furniture were destroyed, and significant damage was caused to walls and floors.

In response, it was decided that the operations of the affected ministries would temporarily be relocated to offices under their respective departments.

Vacant rooms at the Dhaka South City Corporation head office were designated for temporary use by the LGRD ministry.
