The National Logistics Policy is under revision to remove inconsistencies and include urgent reform measures, said said Dr Ahmed Ullah, Director General of the Chief Adviser’s Office (CAO)on Sunday.
The policy, first drafted last year by the CAO, is being re-examined following an initial review in June, he told a roundtable on “Challenges, Opportunities, and Way Forward in Shipping & Logistics Landscape” organised by The Financial Express (FE) in Dhaka.
He said 62 reform initiatives were already identified, but more could be added after consultations with ministries and stakeholders
“Reforms are happening, though the pace is slow. Bureaucracy often means delay, but with collective effort we can speed it up,” he noted.
Dr Ullah stressed that placing the policy under the Chief Adviser’s Office allows for stronger coordination across ministries.
He also pointed to World Bank support for a Logistics Master Plan, including multimodal transport and an online monitoring tool.
The event, organised by The Financial Express, was attended by Shipping Ministry Senior Secretary Mohammad Yousuf as chief guest.
The roundtable, held at Lakeshore Heights hotel in Gulshan, was chaired by FE Editor Shamsul Huq Zahid.
Mohammad Yousuf, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Shipping, attended as chief guest, while Professor Md Mamun Habib of Independent University, Bangladesh delivered the keynote.
FE Head of Online Shiabur Rahman moderated the event.
