The ‘Long March to Dhaka’ programme called by the Anti-discrimination Student Movement has been rescheduled to Monday, one day earlier than previously planned.

Asif Mahmud, the coordinator of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, announced this new schedule on his Facebook page on Sunday (August 4). Previously, the march was scheduled for Tuesday.

Regarding the new schedule, Mahmud wrote on Facebook, “After reviewing the situation, we have made an urgent decision to move our ‘March to Dhaka’ programme from August 6 to August 5. Therefore, we are calling on students and the public from all over the country to set out for Dhaka tomorrow.”

The previous announcement stated that to make the ongoing non-cooperation movement successful, students would unveil memorial plaques at the places where martyrs were killed across the country on Monday. A workers' rally was scheduled for 11:00 am and a women's rally for 5:00 pm at Shahbagh on the same day. Additionally, students were to carry out protests and sit-ins across the country.

The movement called on students, citizens, workers, and professionals from all walks of life to come to Dhaka for this programme. They planned a mass gathering at Shahbagh at 2:00 pm on the same day.

Furthermore, they urged students to form struggle committees in every neighbourhood, village, upazila, and district. If the internet is shut down and a crackdown is launched during this ongoing programme, the student leaders have called on students and ordinary citizens to continue the movement by forming new committees until the government resigns.
