Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashiruddin has said that he and his family have been consuming loose soybean oil bought from the market for the last three weeks.
The quality of loose soybean oil is the same as that of bottled soybean oil, except for the price, he said while speaking as the chief guest at a policy conclave in the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka on Sunday.
The policy conclave, titled ‘Rational Pricing of Food Items: Exploring Market Supervision Strategies’, was organised by the Center for Policy Dialogue.
The commerce adviser also advocated for making the mixing of Vitamin A with soybean oil optional, which is now compulsory.
CPD Research Director Khondaker Golam Moazzem presented the keynote at the event, while Bonik Barta Editor Dewan Hanif Mahmud moderated it.
