LPG vessel fire under control after 13 hours

The fire, which broke out at a vessel carrying Liquefied Natural Gas (LPG) at Kutubdia Point in the Bay of Bengal on early Sunday, came under control nearly after 13 hours.

Bangladesh Coast Guard’s Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Khandaker Munif Taki said the firefighters brought the blaze under control after 2:00 pm on Sunday.

31 people were rescued from the lighter vessel, ‘B-LPG Sofia’, by Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Coast Guard, said authorities.

Khandaker Munif Taki said the vessel was going to Chattogram port when it caught fire around 1:00 am on Sunday.
