Magistrate Tabassum Urmi dismissed over Facebook post on chief adviser

Taposi Tabassum Urmi, a former executive magistrate of Lalmonirhat, has been dismissed from government service over a Facebook post criticising the interim government and its chief adviser.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification on Wednesday confirming her dismissal.
According to the notice, Tabassum Urmi – who was serving as a Special Officer on Special Duty (OSD) – was found guilty of “misconduct” under Rule 3(b) of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018. As a result, she has been dismissed from service in accordance with Rule 4(3)(d) of the same rules.
On 6 October 2024, Tabassum posted remarks on her personal Facebook profile that were deemed controversial, particularly in relation to the interim government and its chief adviser.
