MAGURA, Apr 07: The district has experienced a success in producing BINA Gram-4 for the first time.
Some 10 acres of land on the compound of the Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA), Magura sub-centre, were brought under the farming of the gram variety.
The harvest has recently completed.
In this connection, the office arranged a field-day on the crop.

A total of 154 maunds of yield have been achieved.
Around 5.5 maunds of yield can be produced from a bigha of land while it is around 3.5 maunds for local varieties, a BINA official said.
The official also said BINA Gram-4 is less vulnerable to fungal attack and root rotting disease.
The variety also requires less fertiliser and insecticide.
