Bangladesh’s main Eid prayer congregation will be held at the National Eidgah grounds at 8:30am.
Mufti Muhammad Abdul Malek, khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, will lead the prayer service, while the Islamic Foundation’s Mufassir Dr Maulana Md Abu Saleh Patwary will be his alternate, according to a statement issued on Wednesday.
Five other congregations will be held at the national mosque in phases on Eid day – at 7am, 8am, 9am, 10am, and 10:45am.
The first congregation will be led by Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Senior Pesh Imam Maulana Mizanur Rahman, the second congregation by Baitul Mukarram National Mosque's Pesh Imam Mufti Muhibullahil Baki Nadvi, and the third by Islamic Foundation Deputy Director Maulana Md Zakir Hossain, the fourth by Imam Training Academy religious instructor Maulana Zobayer Ahmed Al-Azhari, and the fifth and final one by Islamic Foundation Mufti Maulana Mohammad Abdullah.
Maulana Shahidul Islam, an assistant librarian at the Islamic Foundation, will be on standby as an alternate.
Bangladesh will celebrate the Eid ul-Fitr festival on Friday or Saturday, subject to the sighting of the moon.
