Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) panel contesting the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) election on Thursday announced that its top priority will be transforming Dhaka University into a fully residential campus.

Abidul Islam Khan, JCD's vice-president (VP) candidate, disclosed their pledge at a press conference held at Madhur Canteen.

He highlighted the struggles faced by many students who come from middle and lower-middle-class families. "Living in rented hostels or messes costs a lot, and most families cannot afford it. As a result, many students are forced to take on four or five private tuitions just to survive," he said, adding that this leaves them with little time for academic work and often their CGPA falls below 3.50.

"When grades fall below 3.50, students lose the chance to apply for good jobs in reputable companies. That's why solving the accommodation crisis is essential. A proper residential campus would give students peace of mind, helping them study and perform better," he added.

Tanvir Bari Hamim, general secretary candidate of JCD panel, Tanvir Al Hadi Mayed, assistant general secretary candidate, and other panel members were also present. Abidul Islam Khan assured that their full manifesto will clearly reflect these student-focused priorities.
