Man dies in Badda gun attack

A man died hours after sustaining injuries in a gun attack at Merul Badda area in Dhaka on Saturday.

Police arrested one of the suspected attackers with a revolver at Hatirjheel after the attack around 1pm.

The victim, Badsha (30), died while being treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Saturday evening.

Badda Police Station OC Kazi Wazed Ali said the attackers shot him from a close range.

Police rescued Badsha and rushed him to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition. Later, he succumbed to his injuries at around 6:00 pm.

“Local people chased the attackers and caught one of them, Nurul Islam, with a revolver in Hatirjheel area,” he added.

The suspect gunman, 38-year-old Nurul Islam, was also admitted to the hospital.

According to bdnews24, the OC could not give further details about Badsha or Nurul.

But he said both of them belong to a gang of miscreants.

"Arrested Nurul Islam has been wanted by Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police in a case for a long time, the police official said.

Nurul is being interrogated under the custody of the DB, the OC Badda said, according to UNB.
