Police have confirmed the death of a man from hacking at Dhaka Udyan in the capital’s Mohammadpur.
Mohammadpur Police Inspector Mofiz Uddin said the victim, identified as Billal Hossain alias Babu, 26, was hacked in front of his home at 7:45pm.
He was declared dead when taken to the hospital at 9pm.
Police were investigating motives such as monetary disputes behind the murder.
“The victim’s family owns a grocery shop in front of their home. An altercation from a monetary transaction took place there,” said Abdullah Al Mamun, assistant commissioner, Mohammadpur.
The assailants first tried to hack the victim’s father, police said.
