Customs official arrested a man along with five gold bars from Benapole customs office in Jessore on Friday morning.
The arrestee has been identified as Jalal Ahmmed Selim, son of Eakub Munshi, hailing from Mitu Matbar Kandi village of Naria upazila in Shariatpur district, reports UNB.
Mohammad Sadik, deputy director of Customs Intelligence, said tipped off, a team of customs officials arrested Selim from a queue in front of the customs office around 9:00am.
Later, they recovered the gold bars weighing 580 gram searching his body.
The gold bars were deposited to Benapole Customs and the arrestee was handed over to Benapole Port Police Station, added the official.
